Sad, sad weekend :(

I just want to say that this weekend will never be the same... First Trayvon Martin's killer goes free, and then the news that Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson on Glee, for those who don't know) has also died this weekend. It's all very sad and shocking, and I don't quite know how to feel about it all. I just feel...numb I guess. Glee will NEVER be the same, and the injustice that happened in Florida (how could the jury not at least recognize the fact that Zimmerman KILLED someone, and send him to jail for that fact?!)... *sigh* I don't know. I just know that this weekend will be a sad one.

Only God knows the reasoning to the unreasonable. I am deeply saddened by the injustice of Trayvon's killer going free. It reminds me of how racially divided this country is and it makes the weight of being a black citizen in the US all the more unbearable. We've been in this country for many centuries and yet, we are still treated less than animals. May God give peace to Trayvon's parents and may we all join together and work toward changing the justice system for the better. Cory's death is also troubling in the sense that with drug abuse in his past, I question whether he relapsed. Drugs are terrible and often times, people who were/are addicted find themselves having difficulty truly letting go. We saw the same sad outcome with Whitney Houston and countless others who made drug their idol. The Word says "do not have any other gods before me". This is a commandment for a reason. Everything that God has commanded is for a reason and purpose.

You're right. That's pretty much why I didn't watch the whole trial; I knew it was going to (whether purposefully or not) focus on race, and I knew that would get ugly so I didn't even watch it. You're also right about celebrities who use drugs; I didn't even know Cory was a previous addict until I read a few more articles about him. You couldn't even tell on the show... It's all just so sad, but at the same time, it opens our eyes to the fact that our favorite celebrities, while they are famous, are also just like us. Human.
